Coach
Gower is
entering
his 28th
year in
education,
and
begins
year
number
11 here
at Deer
Creek.
This is
his 4th
year as
the head
coach,
previously
serving
as
offensive
coordinator.
Prior to
coming
to Deer
Creek as
assistant
principal
and
coach,
he was
the
Athletic
Director,
Assistant
Principal,
Offensive
Coordinator,
and also
head
Baseball
Coach at
Tecumseh
High
School
for 4
years.
He also
coached
football
and
baseball
and
taught
Algebra
at
Putnam
City
West
High
School
for a
lengthy
time,
with a
prior
stint at
Perry
High
School
in the
same
capacity.
In the
previous
3 years
under
Coach
Gower,
the
Antlers
have
advanced
into the
Class 5A
playoffs
in 2 of
the 3
years,
going to
the
quarterfinals
last
year
before
being
eliminated
by the
eventual
state
champion,
Booker
T.
Washington.
Coach
Gower
has a
19-14
career
record
at Deer
Creek
after
the 8-4
2010
campaign.
In
addition,
he has
almost
300
career
wins as
a head
baseball
coach.
In his
27 years
of
coaching,
he has
had the
opportunity
to coach
8
All-State
players,
1 NFL
player,
and 3
Major
League
Baseball
players.
Coach
Gower
was
selected
as the
All
State
Football
Head
Coach
for the
West
team
this
year. He
was also
the
Edmond
Sun
Newspaper
Coach of
the
Year, as
well as
the
Oklahoman
Newspaper
Edmond
Coach of
the
Year.
The
coaches
and
players
that he
has had
the
pleasure
to work
with are
the
reasons
for the
prior
successes
that he
has
experienced,
and
looks
forward
to
continuing
the
tradition
here at
Deer
Creek.
He is
married
to his
beautiful
wife
Paula,
celebrating
their
25th
anniversary
this
year.
She has
been an
incredible
coach’s
wife
every
step of
their
journey
together.
They
have 3
great
children,
Matt and
Cami,
who are
both
seniors
at Deer
Creek,
and
Macy, an
8th
grader
at DCMS.
They are
all
active
at
Gateway
Community
Church,
where he
serves
as a
deacon.

OK. He is currently USA weightlifting level 1 certified. His

Lang

Coach
John
Lang is
in his
sixth
season
at Deer
Creek
and
third
season
as
Defensive
Coordinator.
After
playing
football
for
Marlow
High
School,
Lang
went on
to play
for the
University
of
Tulsa.
Before
joining
the
Antlers
coaching
staff,
Coach
Lang
assisted
in
starting
the
football
program
at
Seeworth
Academy
in OKC,
Oklahoma
where he
served
as Head
Coach
and
Athletic
Director
for one
year.
When he
has free
time, he
enjoys
spending
it with
his
beautiful
wife
Emily
and his
son, two
year old
Wyatt
Christopher.

Holman
is

He
previously
spent 2
years as
the head
baseball
coach at
Putnam

High
School
in
Bethany,
OK., and
4 years
on the
baseball
staff at
Edmond
Santa Fe
High
School.
He also
spent
the
Summer
of 2009
as a
coach
for the
Oklahoma
City
Ambassadors,
a
traveling
ministry
baseball
team.
His
primary
responsibilities
on the
coaching
staff
include
Running
Backs
and
Special
Teams
Coordinator.
Coach
Holman
has been
married
to his
beautiful
wife
LeAnna
for 6
years.
When he
is not
coaching
he
enjoys
playing
golf,
hunting,
fishing
and
watching
the
Kansas
City
Chiefs,
Alabama
Crimson
Tide and
Texas
Rangers.
Coach
Holman
and
LeAnna
attend
Church
of the
Harvest
in
Oklahoma
City. He
believes
that the
strong
relationships
built on
trust
between
he and
his
players
are the
reasons
he
continues
coaching.

Coach
Hyde is
entering
his
third
year
here at
Deer
Creek,
previously
he was
at
Jarman
Middle
School
in
Midwest
City, OK
for 1
year and
for 10
years he
was at
Lawton
High
School
in
Lawton,
OK. His
primary
responsibilities
are
assisting
with all
the
video
and
technology
needs on
the
staff,
to
include
uploading
game
film,
taking
stats
during
the
game,
getting
stats on
the
various
websites,
setting
up
cameras
for
games,
getting
the
media
the
necessary
info
they
need
before,
during
and
after
games,
updating
the
computers,
helping
with
website
maintenance
and any
other
tasks
assigned
by the
head
coach,
and
handling
the day
to day
operations
along
side the
head
coach to
make
sure the
team has
what it
needs to
be
successful.
He has a
gorgeous
wife Liz
and two
wonderful
daughter's
Kelsey
and
Abigail.
In his
free
time he
enjoys
spending
time
with his
family
and
following
college
football
his two
favorite
teams
are the
Oklahoma
Sooners
and Penn
State
Nittany
Lions. He also helps other coaches learn the Hudl video system, and volunteers
his time
with the
Oklahoma
Fellowship
of
Christian
Athletes
doing
their
website,
taking
pictures
and
video of
different
events,
and
going to
summer
camps.
He loves Deer Creek and getting to meet the various people in the community.

Bio:
Coach Melvin is entering third year as the defensive line coach here at Deer Creek. He graduated from Deer Creek and the University of Central Oklahoma.In his spare time he enjoys sports of all kinds.

Blanchard

Bio:
Coach Blanchard is entering his sixth year of coaching here at Deer Creek. He serves as the GMT-Supervisor for the Deer Creek School District. He had a very successful career in both college and the NFL. He kicked and punted at Oklahoma State University from 1987-1991 playing in Sun Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Coca-Cola Bowl. Holds an NCAA season record for consecutive PAT's at 67 in 1990. He played in the World Football League and won the World Bowl in 1992. He played in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts. He received the AFC Special teams Player of the week and AFC player of the Month. While with Indianapolis he was named First Team All Pro and kicked the 1997 Pro Bowl game winning field goal. He has won the Golden Toe Award, the Mackey Award as the leading scorer and was named by the NFL Alumni Player of the Year. His career ended with an injury to his kicking foot in a pre-season game with the Cardinals. He has beautiful wife Mindi and they have been married for 21 years and they have three wonderful children Blake, Bayli and Braeden.

Smith

Coach
Bio:
Coach Smith is entering his first year here at Deer Creek after spending the previous five years as an assistant for Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School where he enjoyed a three year run of back to back state championships and a runner-up. He coached secondary and running backs while at McGuinness. He played at Deer Creek from 2002 till 2005. He graduated from Oklahoma State University. He has a been married to his wife Courtney for one year.

Cornett
Athletic
Trainer
Bio:
Parker
graduated
from the
University
of
Central
Oklahoma
in 2002
with a
Bachelor’s
degree
in
Kinesiology
and
Health
Sciences.
She then
became
nationally
certified
as an
Athletic
Trainer
and is
licensed
by the
Oklahoma
Medical
Board.
She has
worked
in
orthopedics
and
physical
therapy
settings
for
fourteen
years,
and have
worked
for
McBride
Orthopedic
Hospital
for over
five
years.
She has
been
working
with
Deer
Creek
athletes
for the
past
five
years.
Parker
has also
been
married
to her
husband
for nine
years
and were
blessed
with a
baby
girl in
2010.
